Success can be defined many different ways, and typically, with fundraisers it's about the money raised. In our case, we were happy that the plant sale turned a profit for our garden, with about ten different gardeners raising a little over $200. Taking into account the costs of our seeds which were approximately $75, we did pretty good, considering that the seeds will also be used for next year's Giving Garden. But more than this, we figured out how we might run an online sale if we need to in the spring, and so it was very successful as a pilot project. Thank you to all of the volunteers involved -- this endeavor began earlier this summer with our seed planting parties, so it's been weeks in the making! Many thanks to those who purchased plants from us this fall!
Perhaps the best thing about this sale was the opportunity to see fellow gardeners (including our furry gardeners, Wally and Ruby) at the P-Patch for the plant pick up! We managed social distancing without a problem, and it felt good to be out working in the garden when others were there too. It felt almost normal to be able to look up and see someone working a few plots away, even if we were wearing our masks!
