"I Love a Good Work Party!"

Literally words from my husband's mouth after we got home today from the second work party of the season. And I couldn't agree more! There is something very heartening about seeing a community of people come together to get a project done for the greater good. Even more special were the genuine exclamations of joy as people saw others they hadn't seen in a long time, or the new connections being made as people worked side by side.
The turnout was amazing! Nineteen people signed up and at least that many, if not more, showed up. With the extra people power we were able to get weeding done around our Garden Gems: the rhubarb, raspberry, and blueberry patches as well as up by the orchard. We spread moo doo to the Giving Garden and to the raspberries, blueberries, and rhubarb. Even the herb garden got some special attention today, and little extra work was done to extend the wall up by the orchard too.
Our efforts were fueled by Robin's delectable scones and accompanied by C & P coffee (thank you Bess!) and water (thank you Kara)! Our young gardeners brightened spirits even further by bringing flowers. Lucky us, they were even free! And of course, Mother Nature gave us the perfect weather to get this project done.
Projects like the ones we accomplished today are a great way to keep the momentum of 2021 headed in a positive direction, not only because of the feeling of accomplishment that comes with getting something done but because of the opportunities provided to bring people together after so much time apart. Thank you, thank you, thank you everyone!
Wow, what a great bunch of people! I believe this is the most beautiful P-Patch I have ever seen and it's still really early in the season!
