TOMATO FEST 2019!

Save the Date! TomatoFest 2019 is slated for Saturday, August 24th. Kevin will be concentrating on winners from previous years with only a few new types to try. We would love our gardeners to bring some of your own tomatoes, both oddballs and winners, to this year’s taste-off. Here is what Keven will be planting at the garden (and at home):

2019 Tomato Varieties - all Heirlooms (and one accident)

  • Paul Robeson - Productive, tasty mid-sized – dark skinned

  • Cherokee Purple - Known for its taste.  Am trying again after a long time

  • Green Zebra - Small, but very productive with unique tart/sweet flavor

  • Brown Derby - Mid-sized beefsteak with complex flavor

  • “Wild Child” - Accidental-cross cherry in Karen Lyon’s garden : Bronze 2018

  • Polish - Large, red, beefsteak

  • Solar Flare - Streaky red tomato – Winner of 2018 TomatoFest

  • Black Sea Man - Dark, flavorful beefsteak – Winner of 2017 TomatoFest

  • Atomic Grape - Teardrop-shaped cherry, colorful and flavorful – Silver 2018

  • Pink Berkeley Tie-Dye - Red version of 2016 TomatoFest winner. Productive, tasty

  • Plus some last-minute additions…?
